PLOTThough we are often see stories of pedophilia in the news, it is rare to see one who the victim’s parents turn vigilante. Also interesting is the in depth look at the psychological repercussions which she is forced to face as a result of the incident.
STORY
The story has a very dark and violent aspect to it with small clouds of redemption which are simply never reached. As a reader I was hoping something positive would happen by the time that I reached the conclusion of the story.
CHARACTER
For the most part, I hated the characters in the story. Many of them seemed self-serving and inconsiderate of those they met, that is of course outside of D. Towards the end I even felt that way about the main character, which goes to show what shallow world all of us live in.
DIALOGUE
The dialogue is the strength of this story. The adult dialogue appears quite natural. From the arguments to wit, to the professionals of the court, the author did a good job with that.
I am however, a bit skeptical of the son’s dialogue, and question is a two year olds vocabulary is quite that advanced. The fact that he attended day care may have helped, but I still call into question his communication skills.
STRUCTURE
The story is structured in a linear pattern during with one or two flashbacks which move the story forward. The end of the story and revelation of events, does call into question things the reader may have missed.

COMPOUND gives Tisha the ability to use her gifted mind and captivate audiences from a "Raw Cut" aspect... not just from the streets of Philadelphia but to readers all over. This book illustrates stories and scenes that happen in every day society. The story line was well written and it only took me 3 hours to read it. If you like a street novel that you or someone you know can relate to...this book is for you.
